Quirky and Playful Additions to Any Room

Sometimes we find our home décor dull and lacking a playful and active flair. We sometimes resort to picking new additions to home to brighten a room or bring back the life into it. But these additions are not always available in furniture shops. Sometimes, all you need is a new idea and few quirky creations.

Here are a few ideas that can make a certain part of your house pop and they are easy to make, need less time and fun to do!

Indoor Swing
You can make this in just thirty minutes. All you need is a swing kit and mounting hooks.

Here's how you can put it together:

  • Pick an area of the room with a few feet of space to swing in both directions.
  • Locate a rafter or a sturdy support in the ceiling. (Use an electronic stud finder, if needed.) This will help the swing hold more weight. Mount the hooks according to the directions.

If space is what you lack, you can always try a hammock which can easily give you the same breezy effect.

Canopy

Make one in fifteen minutes! You'll need tulle, small nails, a hammer and a pair of scissors.

Here's how you can put it together:

  • Buy a swath of tulle that's about double the width and 3 ½ times the length of the bed.
  • Hang the tulle over the bed with four small nails (sturdy pushpins may also work); let it sag a little at the top.
  • Cut the excess dragging on the floor. Yes, it's that easy.

You can do this in your bedroom. And if a canopy is too much for you, try draping the tulle into a curtain rod and hang it behind your bed instead of having a headboard.

Install a Pegboard
Do this in a drab wall inside your house to hang things that will otherwise only add clutter into the room. You'll need more time in installing this but the result will be very worth it.

You'll need a pegboard kit, two of your favorite paint colors, a paint roller, a small paintbrush, and a pencil.

Here's how you can put it together:

  • Using the roller, paint the pegboard with a base color; let dry.
  • With a pencil, trace the objects you want to hang, then use a paintbrush to paint inside the lines with the second color. (Tape along the edges for crisp lines.) Let dry.
  • Hang the board on a wall; affix pegs and your items.
