| Dream-decor condo show opens Saturday to benefit Southwest Florida orchestra Posted: 03 Mar 2011 02:54 PM PST SWFL Orchestra Designer Showcase Where: Tavira at Bonita Bay, 4851 Bonita Bay Blvd., Bonita Springs When: Saturday through March 13; hours —10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays; 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays Information: (239) 454-5942 or www.facebook.com/sanctuariesinthesky Time was when condos were related more to bowling alleys than to homes in Southwest Florida. That shotgun-straight, room-flanked ribbon of dwelling that spread from front door to lanai was ubiquitous. Now, however, condos embrace angled kitchens, home theaters, fireplaces and sprawling fronts that give every bedroom a view of the Gulf of Mexico. Into that wonderland comes the Southwest Florida Symphony Society, which is holding its 2011 Designer Showcase in some of the area's newest, Tavira at Bonita Bay. Ruth Condit, principal and residential design specialist at Ruth Condit Interiors, Fort Myers, is chair for the showcase, this year titled, "Sanctuaries in the Sky." It is scheduled Saturday through March 13 and will feature six high-rise homes in Tavira at Bonita Bay. "Sanctuaries in the Sky" will offer visitors the opportunity to tour six of the 90 residences in the 26-story high-rise that overlooks Estero Bay, Bonita Beach and the Gulf of Mexico. Tickets will be available at the door for $15 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., except Sunday when the showcase will run from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served in the clubroom, where sales from a vintage jewelry boutique will support the symphony. Among the six model residences are two that won interior-design-of-the-year honors for Robb & Stucky Interiors of Fort Myers and Naples. The condos include a 12th-floor model that earned Sand Dollar and Pinnacle awards from the Collier and Lee building industry associations, and its fourth-floor model design won a Pinnacle Award. Other model homes in the showcase will be residences designed by Collins & DuPont Interior Design, Bonita Springs and Naples; Gary David Design, Bonita Springs; and Marc-Michaels Interior Design, Naples. The six residences are priced from $1.52 million to $22.51 million, including furniture and finishes. All the residences have private elevator lobbies, gas fireplaces in the great rooms and summer kitchens, complete with electric grills and sinks, on screened terraces. Guests may also see other Tavira amenities when they visit: a 26th-floor rooftop terrace; heated, resort-style pool with lap lanes; oversized whirlpool and outdoor bar with screened cabana and fireplace. There is a clubroom with bar and catering kitchen; a 10-seat theater and card and game rooms; a health club with a fully equipped fitness center; and two designer-furnished suites for overnight guests. In a news release announcing the showcase, Condit called it "an outstanding collection of design ideas in a venue that is not typically open to the public."
